Time and time again, famous artists come to Poznan, including Mark Isham (The Black Dahlia, Crash, Blade, Breakfast of Champions, Quiz Show), Christopher Young (Spiderman 3, Species, The Rum Diary, Hellraiser, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) and Marco Beltrami (Scream, Die Hard 4 and 5, The Hurt Locker, World War Z, Wolverine, 3.10 to Yuma, Resident Evil). In the fourth edition of the Festival, we will follow the shadow of Sherlock Holmes into the world of music imbued with what we love the most in the cinema - the mystery and action!
Guests of TRANSATLANTYK FESTIVAL POZNAN 2014 will be composers: Michael Price, Peter Golub (they will sit on the jury of international composition competitions, held annually at the Festival) and Bruce Broughton, who will lead master classes andmeetings with the authors. The moderator of the meetings will be yet another unusual guest at the Festival - Tim Burden, famous music journalist, radio presenter, and above all, a tireless promoter of film music.
Winner of Royal Television Society Award, BAFTA and two Emmy Award nominations - Michael Price has composed unforgettable musical creations to the series Sherlock Holmes. He is one of the most recognizable British composers of film music. 15 years ago, he began a promising career as an assistant to the legendary Michael Kamen, and now his rich filmography is filled with a whole range of musical inspirations, from comedies to thrillers. He also worked in various capacities on productions such as The Lord of the Rings,Casino Royale, and Tomb Raider.
This American composer creates music, not just for films, but also television series and even computer games. 8 awards and 9 nominations to Emmy Award and also a nomination and then the winning of the Saturn Award, nomination to the Academy Award,these are just some of Bruce Broughton\'s many accolades. In 1985, the composer won recognition for his music for the film Young Sherlock Holmes and the Pyramid of Fear, and later, his career was marked by other successes in productions such as Silverado,Tombstone, Tales from the Crypt, JAG, The Blue and the Gray, Dallas and many others.
Ambassador of independent cinema, American composer and pianist, awarded, among others, BMI Classic Contribution Award andVision Award (2008) - Peter Golub. Music Director of the Sundance Institute, Doctor of composition from the prestigious Yale School of Music and member of the American Music Center. Author of the music scores for films, theater, also ballet and concert compositions, as well as an outstanding teacher. We know his work from projects with extremely high artistic standards: Countdown to Zero (2010), Frozen River (2008, film twice nominated for an Academy Award), The Great Debaters (2007) and others.
Tim Burden, who will lead the meetings with the composers, is one of the most respected exponents of film music. As a music journalist and radio presenter, he is the author of countless interviews, reviews and essays on composers. Works with Cinemagic International Film & Television Festival for Young People in Belfast. In 2013, he produced musical events with George Fenton, and in 2014, co-produced Patrick Doyle\'s music concert with the Ulster Orchestra and the Belfast Film Festival. His voice has been heard in commercials and trailers in many parts of the world. Tim Burden is also a board member of the Film Music Foundation and a member of the International Film Music Critics Association.
