She graduated from Cultural Sciences and Directing at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television University of Silesia. She attended master classes in the Wajda School under the supervision of Wojciech Marczewski, Filip Bajon, Agnieszka Holland and Andrzej Wajda. Agnieszka Smoczyńśka has authored short-feature documentaries and feature films, which won multiple awards at Polish and international festivals. She has also worked for the TV theatre. In 2015 she debuted with spectacular The Lure, in which she experiments with the musical and horror film genres. She’s been awarded for the best debut at the Gdynia Film Festival; she’s also been announced as the “Discovery of the year” of Polish Film Awards. The Lure has been granted dozens of awards all over the world, i.a. in Fantasporto, Sophia, Vilnius and at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received the Special Award for the “unique vision and design”. This year Smoczyńska, at the invitation of Sydney Film Festival, Variety and European Film Promotion, takes part in the "European Cinema: Ten Women Filmmakers to Watch” program.
