Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz

One of the best known song and film music composers in Poland. Winner of many awards at the Student Song Festival, the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole (1997), Short Film Festival in Kraków (1975), Television Art Festival (1992) and the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia. Co-founder of Anawa band, in which he played until 1980. He developed his artistic career in Piwnica pod Baranami, Theater Scena STU, the National Theatre in Warsaw and Teatr Powszechny in Warsaw, but also during his many years’ cooperation with other musicians, i.a. Marek Grechuta. He wrote music for such films as Bohater roku, Chleba naszego powszedniego, Wodzirej, Ćma, Gorączka or Zawrócony. Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz also composed theatre music – he wrote i.a music for the Kur zapiał opera and the Szalona lokomotywa musical. Apart from music, Pawluśkiewicz’ passion is painting.
