In 2001, at the Department of History (AMU), she defended her Ph.D. dissertation in ethnology entitled Peruwiańskie siły samoobrony chłopskiej. Od konfliktu zbrojnego do transformacji pokojowej [Peruvian forces of farmers’ self-defence. From the armed conflict to peace transformation]. Since 2002, she’s been working at the Faculty of the Latin America Studies (now being a Department) of the University of Łódź. Between 2002-2015 she run many field research projects in Peru and research penetration projects on Cuba, in Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia and Ecuador. Her academic interests are focused on the methodology of field research and political anthropology, specifically including political violence and internal conflicts in the Andes region, paramilitaries (especially self-defence groups in Peru, Guatemala and Colombia) and the situation od soldier’s children in the Latin America guerrillas.
