Michał Oleszczyk

Michał Oleszczyk (born in 1982) - artistic director of the Film Festival in Gdynia, critic and translator, received the degree of Doctor of Film Studies from Jagiellonian University. He also worked as a lecturer at the University of Warsaw and Krakow Film School. He is an activist in the organization of Polish Filmmakers in NYC, promoting Polish cinematography in New York and one of the most valued Polish film critics. He was one of the editors of the Film monthly, and publishes on the pages of Kino, Filmweb, Dwutygodnik, and - as the only Polish critic - on the pages of rogerebert.com, portal founded by the legendary American film journalist Roger Ebert. Michał Oleszczyk is also the winner of the Krzysztof Mętrak Award (for best young Polish film critics), the readers of onet.pl commendation for Blog of the Year and the Polish Film Institute Award for best Polish film critic. He wrote books devoted to the works of Guy Maddin, Terence Davies and Quay Brothers.
