We know the dates of the PGNiG Transatlantyk Festival 2016!

We are proud to announce the dates, the official poster and the first news about the PGNiG Transatlantyk Festival 2016 in Łódź!
The upcoming edition of the PGNiG Transatlantyk Festival will take place on June 23-30, 2016.
It is a very meaningful time within the world of cinema: closing the current film season on the one hand, and opening the season of summer festivals in Poland on the other. For this reason our viewers will certainly be among the first in Poland to watch the films carefully selected by us from all the most important international winter and spring festivals - Sundance, Berlinale or Cannes. Aside from box office hits we will also screen arthouse pictures, available only outside the regular distribution circuit. This means our festival will be the only chance to see them! Other sections of the Festival - Music and Education/ Inspirations - will of course be present once again and we will inform about them on a regular basis.
We are very happy to say that almost all of the PGNiG Transatlantyk Festival screenings and other events will be free of charge! We want our festival to be open and available to everyone, which is part of our mission. Our goal is to educate about contemporary cinema and music and to create the space for discussion between our audience and the invited guests.

We are particularly proud to present the official poster of the PGNiG Transatlantyk Festival 2016!

The author of this edition’s poster is Tomasz Opasinski, one of the most outstanding and world-renowned Polish computer graphics, based in Los Angeles. Opasinski has worked on almost 500 film, TV and computer games campaigns, realized for the biggest international brands and advertising agencies. He has been a participant, finalist and part of the jury panel of many graphics competitions, including Young Creatives Cannes Lions Contest, The Hollywood Reporter Annual Key Art Awards or the Golden Trailer Awards. He has created posters for such Hollywood productions as „Shrek”, „Transformers” or the Harry Potter franchise. We are happy to collaborate with Tomasz Opasinski for the third time. His previous Transatlantyk Festival posters have been awarded at many international graphics competitions (e.g. twice at the prestigious Film Festival Poster Awards).

I have tried to illustrate the festival’s main theme as clearly as I could. I have thought of myself, my friends and millions of people around us, tried to understand how we think and perceive as a crowd and what we won’t notice within this crowd. That theme is incredibly hard - not only to illustrate, but also to film, to narrate. What we see isn’t always true, the truths presented to us aren’t always facts. Sometimes the wall surrounding us is invisible, and sometimes it grows so big we can’t see anything else - says Tomasz Opasinski, the 2016 poster’s creator.

We invite you to Łódź!
